Raindrops on roses….
A few of my favourite things no.1 - Skincare At the age of 59 I’ve been on a voyage of discovery for the perfect skincare most of my adult life, but truth be told, I enjoy the thrill of the chase and the lure of the new, so I might be disappointed if I ever found it. My tastes have changed in recent years and my skincare routine is more about pausing, pampering and taking a few moments to take off the day, a little nourishing self care rather than a quest to zap my lines. Here’s what’s on my bathroom shelf right now: Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm I’m just back from a week in the sun and feel I need a little TLC so I love this soothing, aromatic cleanser that you can either take off with a warm cloth or leave on for a while as a mask. I mesmerise myself gently massaging it in and my thirsty skin loves it. Nuxe Melting Cleansing Gel with Rose Petals I love, love this gentle rose scented cleanser that I work in and wash off. I’ve been using it for ages and am hooked on the smell, the gentle creamy cleansing and the luxe feel. Yum. Boots Botanics Facial Wipes Yes, I know, we’re not supposed to but these are without doubt the best wipes in the known world in my opinion and for a quick whizz over your face when you’re in a rush, or as a remover for the first layer of gloop before a proper cleanse, there’s nothing better. They’re often out of stock, so I think the secret is out. Heal Gel I discovered this simple but highly effective skincare range after reading Natascha McElhone’s book on losing her brilliant plastic surgeon husband who was one of the founding partners of this brand. Unpretentious in appearance, it just works brilliantly and I use both the Heal Gel Intensive and the Heal Gel Face depending on how my skin’s feeling. Again, it hits the therapeutic fragrance mark for me and my skin feels softer and smoother after using it, I breathe in the soothing smell and feel ...well… healed.
